eBay For auction is a wonderful arts and crafts tile made by The Grueby Pottery Company of Boston, Ma. The tile is known as the "The Grueby Candle Tile". The tile is a nice size as it measures 6" tall and 4" wide out of frame. The tile is 11/16" thick when laying flat on the surface. When mounted in the frame it measures 9 5/8" x 7 1/4". The tile displays a rectangular shape as it is more tall than wide. The theme is wonderful as it is decorated with a Wax Candle in a Chamber Stick with the title "Grueby Tile" above the black wick of the candle. The background glaze is an outstanding mottled green with the body of the candle being a mottled yellow. The body of the chamberstick is a lighter shade of the mottled green and is more curdled than the background glaze. The tile is considered to be in excellent condition as there is a tiny insignificant nick to the edge and this is pictured. This cannot be seen when mounted inside the frame. It is signed on the front "GRUEBY TILE" and has its artist initials on the back that reads "M D". The tile is framed in a signed Dard Hunter quartersawn oak frame. This is an extremely rare tile to find. To find it in an outstanding well defined glaze is even more eye candy. I'm quite sure the buyer will be very pleased with their purchase. This is truly a wonderful example. PLEASE READ BELOW I want to apologize for slowing down my shipping time. Ebay forced me into managed payments in July 2020. I used to get my money in 24 hours. I now get it in 3-4 business days. I was told it would be better for me and my fees would go down. This has been the opposite as my fees have actually increased and now it takes longer for me to receive the payments. This is an increase of 9.45% on the sales tax portion. They are now making a profit on the sales tax and treating it as a sale which in my eyes is wrong!! They did the same on the shipping charges several years ago. They use to not charge anything and now they are charging 12.35% commission on shipping as well. This has raised the cost to ship items to you, the buyer and this is factored into my shipping charges.
